Convert PDF to DOC Online Free (Modern DOCX)

Runs 100% in your browser — your files never leave your device.

Looking for PDF to DOC? You get the format you actually need: a modern, editable .docx that Word, Google Docs and LibreOffice open natively — the binary .doc was retired in 2007. Everything runs in your browser on a text-based PDF — no upload, no account — with page structure preserved. Scanned pages need OCR first, and the tool tells you when a page yields no text.

About this tool

Why you get DOCX even though you searched for DOC

The binary .doc format was replaced by Office Open XML in 2007. Generating it today would produce a file with worse compatibility, weaker editing support, and no advantage — Word itself opens .docx faster. Every modern tool that claims "PDF to DOC" is really producing DOCX under the hood, usually after a server round-trip. This tool does the same conversion in your browser and tells you so honestly.

Editing expectations, stated plainly

The conversion extracts the text layer: paragraphs, page boundaries and reading order. It does not reconstruct columns, floating images, or table grids, and it does not preserve the original fonts. If your goal is editing the words — updating a resume, reusing a contract clause, fixing a typo in a report — that is exactly what this produces. If your goal is visual fidelity, the PDF itself remains the better archive.

Frequently asked questions

Is PDF to DOC the same as PDF to DOCX?
In practice yes — every modern converter produces DOCX. The difference is a 2007-era container versus the current standard, and this tool ships the current one.
Does it work without uploading my file?
Yes. The extraction and packaging happen in your browser. There is no server, no queue and no account.
Can I convert scanned documents?
Scanned pages are images; they have no text layer to extract. You need an OCR step first.
Will tables and columns survive?
Text carries over in reading order; table grids and column layouts do not. Complex layouts need a review after conversion.
