JSON Diff & Object Comparison — Free
Runs 100% in your browser — your files never leave your device.
Text diffs become noisy when object key order or formatting changes. Paste the original and revised JSON to compare their parsed values structurally, then review precise property and array paths marked as added, removed, or changed with both values shown.
How it works
- 1
Paste the original JSON
- 2
Paste the revised JSON
- 3
Review changed object paths
About this tool
How the comparison works
Paste two JSON documents and the tool compares them structurally — objects by key, arrays by position, values by type and content. The result lists exactly what was added, removed, and changed, with the paths where each difference lives. Parsing runs in your browser; the documents never leave your device.
The debugging cases
Two API responses that "should be identical" but behave differently, config files before and after a deploy, serialized payloads versus their expected shape. The structural diff answers the question text comparison cannot: which field changed, at what path, to what value.
Arrays are compared by position
Reordered arrays show as changed pairs rather than moves — JSON has no identity for array elements. For long lists where order does not matter, sort both sides before comparing; for objects, key-based comparison already handles reordering correctly.
Frequently asked questions
Does the diff care about formatting and key order?
No — both documents are parsed into data first, so indentation and key order are irrelevant. Only actual value differences appear.
What about type changes like 1 versus "1"?
They report as changes — JSON distinguishes numbers from strings, and a type flip is a real behavioral difference most debugging sessions care about.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No — parsing and comparison run entirely in your browser. Paste configs with secrets freely; they never leave the device.
